STEP three
wait
‘Wait’ is the third step in the art of Kintsugi. In this stage, superfluous glue is removed and the dish is held together by tight bands and left to rest at the right conditions until the glue solidifies. Crossway Worship’s third single, ‘I Stretch My Hands’, talks about worshipping God while we wait for Him to finish His good work in our lives.
MICAH 7:7
But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord,
I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.
I will wait.
He will keep me safe in his dwelling.
I will dwell.
He will keep me secure.
I will worship.
It brings him closer,
Magnifies him in my sight.
I will watch.
Waiting, watching, worshiping, hoping, enduring.
The work will be complete soon,
I can feel it.
I am confident in his process.
Confident in his heart for me.
I’ve been broken, reassembled, bonded.
It was intentional.
It was deliberate.
Secured up now so I don’t waver
It wont be long til I can stand again.
But right now is the in-between.
When I rest.
When I dwell.
When I hope.
When I worship.
When I wait.

Kintsugi (金継ぎ, “golden joinery”) is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum. It literally translates as being “joined with gold”. This beautiful artform models the master artist’s work in our own lives, as our Heavenly Father lovingly collects our broken pieces and makes us whole again through the power of Jesus’ death and resurrection and the work of His Holy Spirit.
